Completing the Financial Aid Profile

Added: Sept. 27, 2009

Dear Parents of Seniors,
Over the past week, I presented information about the College Application Process to your sons and daughters.  I will offer this presentation to parents in the evening within the next two weeks.  I will let you know as soon as I have a firm date.
Please ask your son/daughter to review the process with you.  Written information on the presentation is available on the Naviance website.  Ask your child to share it with you.
I told the seniors about the CSS Profile and want you to have the information in a timely manner.
This is taken directly from   www.collegeboard.com/student/pay/scholarships-and-aid/8374.html

How to Complete the PROFILE
The PROFILE Process
CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE is the financial aid application service of the College Board. Almost 600 colleges, universities, graduate and professional schools, and scholarship programs use the information collected on the PROFILE to determine eligibility for nonfederal student aid funds. The PROFILE is a fully Web-based application system that provides students a secure and efficient method for reporting their financial data to schools.

How to Register
PROFILE applications are customized for each student, based on information you supply during registration. Customization allows the PROFILE to respond to the unique needs of each applicant and provides a streamlined application process, by asking only the questions that pertain to you, your family, and your financial situation. Register at PROFILE Online, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Registration requires a College Board online account.

Go to PROFILE Online.
Create a College Board online account.

When to Register
You should register for PROFILE as soon as you’re sure about where you are applying for aid.  This should be at the minimum at least two weeks before the earliest college or scholarship program priority filing date you need to meet. The priority filing date is the date by which the college or program tells you that you must have submitted a completed PROFILE Application.

I hope to see you at the Financial Aid Workshops in October and January.

The Process to Attend Visits by College Representatives

Please follow the protocol outlined below in order to attend visits from college representatives:

- log on to www.connection.naviance.com/lchsca
- under About College, click on ‘visit schedule’
- click ‘sign up’
- click ‘sign me up’
- print the page
- obtain the signature(s) of the teacher(s) whose class(es) is involved
- hand the form to me when you enter the venue (most are held in the CCRC)

You will be allowed to attend ONLY if you have the signed form.

If you have added a college to the list of ‘colleges I am considering’ on Naviance, then you will receive an email about the visit by the college representative via Naviance.  So, complete the ‘my colleges’ list on Naviance.
